Top 5 luxury restaurant in New York City

The Corner Bar, Lower East Side

"The best Caesar salad in New York!" That's the phrase oft repeated about one of the city's newest openings, The Corner Bar. The relaxed dining spot in the lower East Side's fresh hotel Nine Orchard, it sits on the corner (hence the name) of Canal and Allen street, with a wraparound outdoor terrace for the warmer months. And its calling-card dish lives up to the reputation. Garlicky and rich, it is best washed down with their crisp Bellinis and a side of locally-sourced oysters. The vibes match the menu – cool yet classic – and those seeking after-hours fun would do well to explore the rest of the hotel; its gorgeously appointed bar The Swan Room is the ideal rendezvous for a martini or three.

Le Crocodile, Williamsburg

Nestled within The Wythe Hotel, Le Crocodile is undoubtedly one of Williamsburg's dining hot spots. Exposed brick, artistic lighting installations and plush terracotta seating might kid you into thinking Le Crocodile is more style than substance (though it is unavoidably very cool) but the menu is the star attraction here. Classic French fare is given an innovative new spin and each dish is bursting with flavour; from deceptively simple leeks in vinaigrette with hazelnuts to a halibut with beurre blanc that is melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The wine list is equally delectable (and the tasting and pairing directions given by the staff are thoughtful and generous) plus there is a cocktail spot on the roof, Bar Blondeau, which is the perfect way to end your night.

Caviar Kaspia, Upper East Side
Caviar Kaspia finally opened a New York outpost; one of the city's newest hot spots. As brilliant and irreverent (check out the bowls of individual cigarettes at the exit) as its London and Paris equivalents, this latest iteration – housed in cult hotel, The Mark – does not disappoint. The interiors have been lavishly designed by Jacques Grange and the menu features the signature twice-cooked baked potato, drizzled with (what else?) caviar. The medallions of Maine lobster are a standout as is the salmon tartare and the atmosphere is as warm and luxurious as that aforementioned potato.Caviar Kaspia, The Mark, 992 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10075
Bemelmans' Bar, Upper East Side

No luxury dining guide to New York would be complete without a mention of the Upper East Side's most iconic bar. Situated in the heart of The Carlyle hotel, Bemelmans' Bar takes its name from the beloved illustrator and writer, Ludwig Bemelmans, creator of the Madeline stories. The murals he painted on the walls of the bar are his only public artworks. Understandably, they draw in quite a crowd, but no more so than the live music, note-perfect (and generously sized) martinis and the gorgeous menu complete with mini lobster tacos and prime-aged beef sliders.

Raoul's, SoHo

A New York institution since the 1970s, Raoul's is a must visit. Once the humble first venue of two French brothers who brought their native Alsace cuisine to America, it is now a beloved under-the-radar icon of SoHo. The history seeps off the walls but the menu – serving up serious French fare, like foie gras and steak tartare – is still unmatched. Pair with a great glass of red and soak in the endless charm.
